Jo Ann Newman of Hammond got lost while driving to Mandeville, so she stopped at Diaz Market on Highway 59 to get directions and decided to buy a Powerball ticket while she was there. Little did she know the Powerball ticket she purchased would be a $100,000 winner for the June 1 drawing! “I was shocked, I started screaming for my husband,” exclaimed Newman. “I had never won anything except for $12 and I was excited about that.” Newman wants to put her winnings toward buying a new car.
