How Will You Celebrate 2022? Become a Millionaire!

Here's your chance to be declared Powerball's First Millionaire of the Year live on Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2022 on ABC!

Beginning Aug. 23 -- the same day as the addition of Powerball's first new Monday draw night --  the Louisiana Lottery will join other lotteries across the nation in participating in this promotional partnership between the multistate game and dick clark productions. During the national promotion, five randomly selected finalists will appear on the show on New Year’s Eve for the chance to win $1 million in a special drawing just after midnight. 

In addition to the chance to win $1 million, the five finalists will also receive a Celebrate@Home New Year’s Eve party package, including a $10,000 cash prize, a deluxe dinner for eight, 70-inch LED TV, a karaoke system, premium laptop computer (with 20 mega-pixel digital camera, on-camera microphone, 19” ring light, and other accessories), $500 to spend at Party City, and more. 

How to Enter

Participating lotteries will hold contests or drawings to select a designated number of semifinalists. The Louisiana Lottery will submit 30 semifinalists by Nov.1. Ultimately, five finalists will be randomly drawn from the national pool of semi-finalists in November. 

To become one of Louisiana’s 30 semifinalists, Louisiana residents at least 21 years of age can enter the promotion via the Entry Form tab on this page starting Aug. 23 through Sept. 20 by providing contact information and sharing their favorite New Year’s Eve memory. While no purchase will be required to enter, entrants can earn ONE bonus entry by also uploading a photo of their Powerball ticket good for any drawing during the promotional period and TWO bonus entries if the ticket contains a Monday night drawing. Promotional Entry Period: Aug. 23, 2021 to Sept. 20, 2021

Contest Description:

Louisiana residents who are at least 21 years of age are invited to enter the Louisiana Lottery's Powerball First Millionaire of the Year website promotion for a chance to become one of 30 semifinalists submitted by the Lottery to the Multi-State Lottery Corporation (MUSL) for entry into a national drawing for the Powerball First Millionaire of the Year Promotion PLUS receive a Louisiana Lottery New Years Eve prize package!

During the national drawing that will occur in November 2021, five finalists from all participating lotteries will be chosen by MUSL to receive a Celebrate@Home New Years Eve party package with all of the necessities needed to throw an epic New Years Eve celebration at home AND to participate remotely as one of five finalists in the Powerball First Millionaire of the Year drawing for $1 million to be conducted shortly after midnight on Jan. 1, 2022, during the live television broadcast of Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve on ABC!

How to Enter:

Beginning Monday, Aug. 23, eligible participants are invited to enter their contact information and share their favorite New Year's Eve memory on the form on the Lottery's website for a chance to become one of 30 finalists submitted to MUSL for the national drawing for the Powerball First Powerball Millionaire of the Year Promotion PLUS a Lottery prize package. Participants can receive ONE extra bonus entry by submitting a photo of their Powerball ticket valid for any drawing during the promotion period and TWO bonus entries if the ticket also contains a Monday night drawing. Each of the 30 finalists will also receive a Louisiana Lottery prize package that will include a Powerball insulated cooler with built-in Bluetooth speakers, two koozies, one Lottery game mascot T-shirt, 1 Lottery mascot sports bottle, 2 stadium cups, a Lottery coaster, Lottery festival hand-held fan and 2 $530X the CashAnniversary scratch-off tickets.

Entries must be submitted electronically via the entry form on the Lottery's website by 11:59 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 20, 2021.

No entries will be accepted in person, by mail, or through any other method. Only one entry per person is allowed and duplicate entries will be disqualified. No purchase is necessary to submit an entry for the promotion.

Inappropriate or offensive comments or photos will be deleted and not considered as entries.

The entrant's name, date of birth and address MUST match their photo identification to be declared a winner.

Semifinalist Prizes:

Thirty (30) winners will be selected from the field of valid entries. Winners contact information will be forwarded to MUSL for the national drawing for the Powerball First Powerball Millionaire of the Year Promotion. Winners will also receive a Louisiana Lottery New Years Eve prize package that will include a Powerball insulated cooler with built-in Bluetooth speakers, two Lottery koozies, one Lottery game mascot T-shirt, 1 Lottery mascot sports bottle, 2 stadium cups, a Lottery coaster, Lottery festival hand-held fan and 2 $530X the CashAnniversary scratch-off tickets.

Winners of Celebrate@Home or Louisiana Lottery New Years Eve prize packages shall not have the option to receive cash payment in lieu of the designated prize. The Lottery has no responsibility to reimburse winners for any forfeiture of any portion of the prize.

In the unlikely event the Lottery is unable to fulfill a stated prize due to circumstances beyond its control, a prize(s) of equal or greater value will be substituted at the Lottery's sole discretion.

Semifinalist Winner Selection and Notification:

On October 4, 2021, 30 winners and 10 alternates will be randomly selected from the field of valid entries. An individual may deemed a semifinalist and win a semifinalist prize only once during the promotion.

Semifinalist winners will be notified via an email to the address provided on their entry. Winners will be required to reply back to the Lottery acknowledging receipt of the email within one week of it being sent and agree to theNational Finalist Terms and Conditions set by Multi-State Lottery Association for the national promotion. Winners will be asked to provide a copy of a valid photo ID to verify their age and residency. The entrant's name, date of birth and address MUST match their photo identification to be declared a winner. Lottery prize packages will be shipped to the physical mailing address provided by each winner as part of their entry.

In the event a winner cannot successfully be contacted or fails to complete the verification process, the Lottery may, at its discretion, assign an alternate winner.

Following successful completion of this winner verification process, the Lottery will forward the winner's contact information to MUSL for inclusion in the national drawing. Winners will also be mailed a Louisiana Lottery New Year's Eve prize package.

The 30 semifinalist winners' names will be unveiled during a special LIVE event on the Lottery's Facebook page on November 1, 2021 also be posted to the Lottery's promotional landing page. Winner photos and stories may be shared and used for advertising the Powerball game on the Lottery's website and social media accounts.

Eligibility

This promotion is open to Louisiana residents at least 21 years of age. Residency and age will be verified. The following individuals are excluded from participating in Louisiana Lottery promotions:

  • Any member of the Board of Directors, officer or employee of the Louisiana Lottery Corporation.
  • Any spouse, child, brother, sister or parent residing in the same household of any Louisiana Lottery employee, officer or member of the Board of Directors.
  • Any employee of any company or vendor awarded a contract or subcontract to conduct business with, assigned to perform services for or provide goods to the Louisiana Lottery for any duration in the 2021 calendar year. This includes but is not limited to advertising agencies, gaming system vendors, printers, auditors, promotional product suppliers, etc.
  • Any spouse, child, brother, sister or parent residing in the same household of any company or vendor awarded a contract or subcontract to conduct business with, assigned to perform services for or provide goods to the Louisiana Lottery for any duration in the 2020 or 2021 calendar years.

Any person who falls into one of the categories listed above or who does not meet the age and residency requirements will be deemed ineligible to participate.

Acknowledgments:

All contest entrants agree to comply with these rules and accept the Lottery's interpretation of them in executing the contest.

In addition, entrants agree to participate in the Lottery's publicity efforts in conjunction with this contest, including but not limited to photo publication, press releases, interviews and media coverage.

Entrants also acknowledge that in matters of administering the contest, the decisions of the Louisiana Lottery Corporation are binding and final.

All contest entrants attest that they are submitting an original photo that is not copied in whole or in part from any work other than their own. Contest entrants agree their photo does not violate copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity or other proprietary rights of any person or entity, and that their photo is their sole, exclusive work.

All participants entering this contest agree to grant the Louisiana Lottery royalty-free, world-wide, perpetual, non-exclusive rights to display, distribute, reproduce, modify and create derivative works of the entries for any purpose trade, advertising, promotional or otherwise and in any electronic, print or other media (now existing or subsequently developed) the Lottery chooses, now or at any time in the future, should their entry be selected as a contest winner. In addition, all entrants agree to participate in the Lottery's publicity efforts in conjunction with this contest, including but not limited to photo publication.

The Louisiana Lottery will not be required to pay any additional costs or seek additional approval in connection with such aforementioned uses. Once submitted, all entries become the property of the Louisiana Lottery.

Entrants also acknowledge that in matters of administering the contest, the decisions of the Louisiana Lottery Corporation are binding and final. All contest entrants agree to comply with these rules and accept the Lottery's interpretation of them in executing the contest.

If a dispute arises over the identity of a participant who submitted an entry, the authorized account holder of the email account associated with the entry will be deemed the participant.
