Hosted by Nicholls State University, the Louisiana Swamp Stomp Festival spotlights local and regional musicians; features a variety of south Louisiana foods; offers several presentations on the history, culture, and economic development of the region; and showcases artisans demonstrating their crafts and selling handmade items. The cost for the festival is $10 a day or $25 for a weekend pass. There is no charge to enter the carnival side of the festival. Children 12 and under, as well as Nicholls students, get in for free. The festival also features the annual Bayou Education Program, or “Tresors du Bayou,” a popular attraction for thousands of primary and secondary school students from south Louisiana. The Southeast Tourism Society has named The Louisiana Swamp Stomp Festival among its “Top 20 Events in the Southeast” for March 2015! Congrats to all who have helped make Swamp Stomp such an important celebration of south Louisiana culture.
