Using spare change left over from her shopping, Matthews purchased a Powerball ticket for the May 24 drawing. As she sat on her bed that evening checking her numbers on TV, she started to shake once she realized that her ticket had matched four of the five white ball numbers drawn plus the red Powerball number.
Matthews, whose ticket was a "quick pick," said she regularly purchases her tickets at Yousef Quick Stop on Highway 75 in Carville. "I went in and told the owner 'you sold a winning ticket, and you are looking at the winner!'" |
