James Watson of Bolton, Miss., picks his Easy 5 numbers from among his five daughters' birth dates, one of which turned out to be the jackpot-winning combination for the Oct. 15 Easy 5 drawing. Watson claimed his $60,000 prize at the Lottery's Monroe office.
Watson, age 74, said it "felt wonderful" to discover his ticket matched all five of the Easy 5 numbers drawn. A second play on his ticket matched two numbers to win an additional $1. After state and federal withholding taxes, he received $42,000, which he plans to use to pay off his car.
Watson purchased his winning ticket at Delta Discount on Highway 193 in Delta. The store will receive a one time bonus of $600 for selling the winning ticket.
The winning numbers for the Oct. 15 Easy 5 drawing were 02-04-15-27-34. Easy 5 drawings are held every Wednesday and Saturday. Players can win a prize by matching as few as two numbers. For an additional $1, players can add ezmatch to their Easy 5 ticket for the chance to win up to $250 instantly.
