Baton Rouge Retailer Sells First of Four $200,000 Top Prizes From "$1,000,000 Spectacular" Scratch-Off

BATON ROUGE - A Baton Rouge retailer has sold the first of four $200,000 top prizes in the $1,000,000 Spectacular scratch-off game. Double K Grocery and Deli on Florida Boulevard in Baton Rouge sold the winning ticket.

A $10 game, $1,000,000 Spectacular, has been on sale since May 9, 2005. There have been over one million tickets sold with winners claiming prizes ranging from $10 to $200,000. Three prizes of $200,000 still remain available.
Meanwhile, players are reminded to continue to send in their nonwinning tickets for entry into a second chance drawing for the $1 million annuity prize, which will take place once the game is closed.

Five finalists' names will be put into a drawing for the $1 million top prize. Four runners-up will win $5,000. The top prize winner has the option of taking a 20-year annuity or a one-time cash payout of $670,000. All prizes are subject to state and federal tax withholdings.

"We are extremely happy that the $1,000,000 Spectacular ticket is doing well and that our players are really enjoying playing the game," said Susan Clayton, Director of Products for the Lottery.

"We're encouraging players to mail those nonwinning scratch-offs to the $1,000,000 Spectacular Second Chance Drawing address on the back of the ticket to be a part of the drawing. It's going to be a really exciting event."
More information about the game's closure, the date of the second-chance drawing and a list of winners will be available on the Lottery's Web site.
