Jamie Blanchard of Chauvin had a reason to smile when she claimed a $10,000 Powerball prize from the Dec. 1 drawing at the Lottery's New Orleans office.
According to Blanchard, this wasn't the first time she won a large Powerball prize. She shared that she won $5,000 playing Powerball in 1997.
Blanchard's ticket matched four of the five white ball numbers drawn and the red Powerball number to win $10,000. The winning numbers for the Dec. 1 Powerball drawing were 05-10-11-12-20 and the Powerball number was 02.
Blanchard, age 32, purchased her winning ticket from Lapeyrouse Seafood Bar & Grocery on Highway 56 in Chauvin. Incidentally, the store also sold a $15 million Powerball jackpot-winning ticket in October 2007.
Ticket purchasers must be at least 21 years of age. The Lottery encourages anyone who may have a gambling problem or friends and family of anyone with a gambling problem to call toll free 1-877-770-7867 for help.
