Baton Rouge Man Wins Big with the Saints

Charles “Aaron” Page III of Baton Rouge claims a $100,000 top prize from a “World Champions New Orleans Saints” scratch-off at Lottery headquarters in Baton Rouge.
Charles “Aaron” Page III of Baton Rouge claims a $100,000 top prize from a “World Champions New Orleans Saints” scratch-off at Lottery headquarters in Baton Rouge.
When Charles "Aaron" Page III of Baton Rouge approached the counter at LaPlace Travel Center, he told the clerk he wanted two $5 tickets from the game of her choosing - just as long as the tickets were winners, he joked.

"She laughed and I took the World Champions News Orleans Saints tickets she gave me back to my car to scratch them," said Page.  "After I saw the $100,000 I was like 'wow okay' and I decided to bring the ticket back inside the store to be sure I actually won."

While Page patiently waited in the line of afternoon commuters, he struck up a conversation with the man in front of him and mentioned the winning ticket.  "He told me to go straight to the front of the line, so I placed the ticket on the counter without saying a word to the clerk," explained Page.  "She scanned the ticket and I could tell by her expression it was a big winner."
"Everyone in the store started cheering and high-fiving me," said Page.  "When I pulled away from the store, they were all still staring at me."

The clerk's selection of World Champions News Orleans Saints paid off in a big way for Page when he claimed the second top prize from the game.

Page, age 36, purchased his $100,000 top-prize winning ticket at LaPlace Travel Center on Highway 51 in LaPlace.  He plans to use his winnings to pay off his car.

World Champions New Orleans Saints is a $5 game that features the chance to win up to 15 times on each ticket. The game has three $100,000 top prizes remaining as of Oct 18.

Players who do not win a cash prize on the World Champions New Orleans Saints scratch-off can enter their nonwinning tickets in second-chance drawings for official autographed Saints merchandise and once-in-a-lifetime game-day experiences to see the Saints in action. The entry deadline for the next drawing is Nov. 8, 2010.
