"Tweet" With Us! The Louisiana Lottery is offering players another way to get the latest Lottery news, including winning numbers, details on promotions and more! On September 13, the Lottery launched its Twitter page inviting players to get real-time information and up-to-the minute updates.
"As the world of social media continues to expand, we plan to expand right along with it by engaging our players in unique ways," said Lottery President Rose Hudson. "The Lottery is ready to tweet, and we invite players to follow us."
The Lottery will utilize Twitter to share winning numbers, jackpot alerts, game information, winner awareness and events. Players can also expect Twitter-based contests and promotions. In addition, Twitter will allow Lottery staff to answer players' questions quickly and effectively. The Lottery will also "follow" players in an effort to learn more about its customer-base.
The Lottery joined the world of social media last October with the launch of its YouTube channel. Four months later, the Lottery launched a Facebook fan page. To date, almost 3,000 fans have joined the Facebook page and the YouTube channel has generated nearly 50,000 video views.
According to a survey conducted last year among the Lottery's online player's club, 46 percent of players used social networking sites at least once a week. Fifteen percent said they used social media to interact with companies offering interesting products. In addition, the majority of players felt it was important for companies like the Louisiana Lottery to have a social media presence.
