"I tried to wait until the actual day of my birthday to claim the money, but I was just too excited," said Tietje. "I checked my numbers at least 10 times." Tietje, who has no immediate plans for his winnings, purchased his ticket at Valero Corner Store #1729 on Northeast Evangeline Thruway in Lafayette. Tietje's ticket matched four of the five white ball numbers drawn and the red Powerball number to win $10,000. The winning numbers for the Dec. 12 Powerball drawing were 12-13-14-35-41 and the Powerball number was 29. Ticket purchasers must be at least 21 years of age.
