Baton Rouge Woman Claims $10,000 Powerball Prize
|Cynthia Walker of Baton Rouge visited Lottery headquarters with her aunt, Gloria Brown, to claim a $10,000 Powerball prize from the May 30 drawing.
Cynthia Walker of Baton Rouge had a noisy house Sunday after she checked her Powerball tickets from the May 30 drawing and discovered she won $10,000.
"I had nine Lottery tickets. The very last one I checked was the winner," said Walker. "My aunt and I started hollering and screaming; then we called everyone we know!"
The excitement from Walker's win affected her sleep, too. "I couldn't sleep that night. I'm still in awe!"
Walker said she plans to pay bills, buy a car and visit her aunt in Michigan with her prize.
Hit-N-Run Food Store #12 on Plank Road in Zachary sold Walker her winning ticket, which she claimed at Lottery headquarters in Baton Rouge.
Walker's ticket matched four of the five white ball numbers drawn and the red Powerball number to win $10,000. The winning numbers for the May 30 Powerball drawing were 1-23-42-51-59 and the Powerball number was 20.
