Walker Resident Claims $325,000 Lotto Jackpot Prize
|
| Lottery President Rose Hudson presents Scott Husser of Walker with a "big check" for $325,000, his prize from the Sept. 17 Lotto drawing. |
As Scott Husser of Walker got ready for work Thursday morning, he took a minute to check the winning numbers from the previous night's Lotto drawing like he does every week. To his amazement, he found that his ticket matched all six numbers drawn to win the $325,000 jackpot.
"I stopped by one of the two stores where I always buy tickets, and the clerk asked me if I was the Lotto winner. I nodded and showed her my ticket," explained Husser, age 40. "She was so excited for me! Then she looked at the back of the ticket and said, 'You haven't signed the back. Sign it now.' She even handed me a pen."
Husser purchased his winning ticket at the On The Run #18 on North Walker Road in Walker. The store will receive a one-time selling bonus of $3,250, or one percent of the jackpot prize, for selling the winning ticket.
Husser claimed his prize at Louisiana Lottery headquarters in Baton Rouge and received $227,500 after state and federal taxes were withheld. "I really don't have any plans beyond investing it yet," admitted Husser. "I have always wanted a boat though."
The winning numbers for the Sept. 17 Lotto drawing were 01-04-23-25-29-32.
Ticket purchasers must be at least 21 years of age. The Lottery encourages players to always sign the back of their tickets immediately after purchasing.
