Two Powerball Prizes Set to Expire Sept. 8

As of today, no one has stepped forward to claim either of two $10,000 Powerball prizes won in March and set to expire next month. Both winning tickets were purchased in New Orleans.

The winning tickets from the March 12 drawing matched four white ball numbers plus the red Powerball and are set to expire Sept. 8.

One of the tickets was purchased at Magnolia Discount on North Broad Street in New Orleans. The other ticket was purchased at Damar Services on Gen. De Gaulle Drive in New Orleans.

The winning numbers from the drawing were 12-19-30-34-36 and the Powerball was 08.

The holder of each winning ticket has until 5 p.m. on the date of expiration in which to claim their prize, which is subject to applicable federal and state tax withholdings. Prizes greater than $600 may be claimed at any of the Lottery regional offices located across the state or at Lottery headquarters in Baton Rouge.

"We look forward to the winners coming forward to claim these prizes. In the meantime, they should treat their tickets as cash," said Lottery President Rose Hudson. "It is also a good idea to sign the back of the ticket for security purposes."

Winners of the Lottery"s draw-style games have 180 days from the date of the drawing to claim their prize. After prizes have passed their redemption deadlines, they are deposited into the Lottery"s unclaimed prize fund, which is returned to players in the form of increased payouts on scratch-off tickets and player promotions.

Ticket purchasers must be at least 21 years of age.  The Lottery encourages responsible play and urges anyone or friends of anyone with a gambling problem to call toll free 1-877-770-7867.  A list of large unclaimed prizes set to expire in the next 90 days can be found on the Lottery's Web site at www.louisianalottery.com/unclaimedprizes.
