Robin Payne visited Louisiana Lottery headquarters in Baton Rouge on Wednesday to claim the third $2 million Powerball prize won in Louisiana from the May 3 drawing.

The 58-year-old Gretna resident’s ticket matched all five white-ball numbers but missed the red Powerball number. Because Payne purchased the Power Play add-on option for $1, her prize doubled from $1 million to $2 million. She said she has been playing the same numbers for a long time, and she always adds the Power Play option.

She received $1.4 million after state and federal taxes were withheld. She said she plans to use the winnings to pay off her house. The winning ticket was purchased at RaceTrac Petroleum #381 on Ambassador Caffery Parkway in Scott. The store will receive a selling bonus of $20,000, which is 1 percent of the prize.

The other two $2 million winning tickets from the May 3 Powerball drawing were claimed earlier this week by a Baton Rouge woman.

Ticket purchasers must be at least 21 years of age. Draw-style game tickets must be claimed within 180 days of the drawing. Anyone who may have a gambling problem or friends and family of anyone with a gambling problem should call toll free 1-877-770-7867 for help.

For security purposes, the Lottery strongly encourages players to sign the back of their tickets immediately after purchasing. More information about other Powerball winners can be found on the Lottery’s website, www.louisianalottery.com.
