Upon hearing his friends from Arkansas planned to come down to New Orleans for a weekend, Matthew Bice of Baton Rouge scrambled to get his hands on tickets to the Oct. 27 Saints game for the group. As luck would have it, the very next day Bice got a call from the Louisiana Lottery with the news that the nonwinning BLACK & GOLD SAINTS scratch-off he'd entered into its second second-chance drawing was selected as the winner of a 2013 Saints Prize Package from more than 16,500 entries.

In addition to four Plaza Club Sideline tickets to Saints vs. Buffalo game last weekend, Bice also scored pregame field passes, overnight hotel accommodations, a $200 dinner allotment as well as $500 spending cash as part of the prize.

BLACK & GOLD SAINTS is the fifth New Orleans Saints-branded $5 scratch-off game the Lottery has offered. It features a top prize of $100,000 and second-chance drawings for game-day prize packages and autographed merchandise. Bice said he began buying the Louisiana Lottery's Saints scratch-offs last year primarily for the chance to win Saints prizes.

In addition to Bice's prize, nine official autographed Saints merchandise prizes were also awarded during the Lottery's second-chance drawing conducted Oct. 9. Nola Matherne of Thibodaux, Angela Leonard of Thibodaux and Heidi James of Loranger each won an autographed jersey.  Mike Boutwell of Lafayette, Juliette Alfred of Lafayette and Debra Nolte of Keithville each won an autographed helmet. Marian E. White of Baton Rouge, Michael Broussard of Patterson and Mary Picou of Houma each won an autographed football.

The Lottery reminded players that the entry deadline for its thirdBLACK & GOLD SAINTS second-chance drawing is Monday, Nov. 18. During that drawing, nine entries will be selected to win an official Saints autographed helmet, football or jersey. In addition, one winner will be selected to receive a 2013 Saints Prize Package to the Saints vs. Carolina game on Dec. 8.

To enter the second-chance drawing, players should complete the information on the back of nonwinning $5BLACK & GOLD SAINTSscratch-off tickets and mail one ticket per envelope no larger than 4.5" by 9.5" to the drawing address printed on the back of the ticket.
